Will grew up in East London and Essex in the Southeast of the United Kingdom. From 2011, he studied as an undergraduate at Imperial College London. During this time, he worked as a medicinal chemist at Roche in Basel, Switzerland. Upon returning to London, Will conducted his dissertation research in natural product synthesis and enantioselective catalysis under the mentorship of Dr. Christopher J. Cordier. Will undertook graduate studies at the University of Cambridge in the group of Prof. Matthew J. Gaunt, focusing on the synthesis of alkylamines by palladium-catalyzed C–H functionalization and metal-free radical chemistry. After obtaining a PhD in 2020, Will was awarded a Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Actions Global Postdoctoral Fellowship to conduct research in the United States and Europe. In the US, Will worked in the group of Prof. Paul J. Chirik at Princeton University , exploring the reactivity of cobalt and iron metallacycles in collaboration with Dr. Stefan G. Koenig from Genentech. Returning to Germany, Will worked in the group of Prof. Tobias Ritter at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung, investigating dearomatization reactions. In January 2025, Will starts as an Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University.
