Whitehurst Lab at Texas Tech University

About Us

The Whitehurst Laboratory is a synthetic organic and organometallic research group in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX. We open our doors in January 2025!

Our research involves the design and synthesis of catalysts, discovery and development of metal-catalyzed organic transformations, and identification and isolation of reactive organometallic intermediates. We aim to apply our unique insight to address unsolved challenges in enantioselective catalysis and late-stage functionalization. The primary application of our research is in the synthesis and diversification of bio-active organic compounds relevant as small molecule pharmaceuticals.

Join the lab: We are actively recruiting graduate undergraduate students to start research projects in January 2025 – email WGW now to learn more!
